Description: Bring your camera and manual. Bring pencil and notebook. Be prepared to share what you hope to get out of the class. First Day: Learn to use your camera inside and out: Slides about design and composition. Second Day: Slides to suggest creative shooting during the morning; afternoon camera “shoot” and review of that shoot.

Title: Papier-Mache Workshop with Bruce Rinnert
Location: Two Rivers Gallery, 226 McLeod Street, Big Timber, Montana
Description: Learn the basics of working in the ancient craft of Papier-Mache. You will be given a ‘secret’, simple and fool proof recipe for the Paste that makes it all work. This is not the weak soupy shredded newspaper version we were all taught in grammar school! You can choose to create a sculpture, bowl, or mask.
Materials: 2 or 3 grocery size brown paper bags, or brown paper of different weights. If you want to make a Papier-Mache Bowl, you will need a bowl or dish for a ‘form’. Wear an apron or clothes that can get slimed/”glopped” (it is a messy process).

Title: Pocket Sketching Workshop – Kath Macauley
Location: Two Rivers Gallery, 226 McLeod Street, Big Timber, MT
Description: The Challenge: You are visiting a park with beautiful children playing. You capture the moment with a camera….but are disappointed that you captured what the camera saw, not what you saw at the moment.
You might like to sketch or paint the scene….but you don’t have your materials with you…..and a big canvas (paper) can be pretty intimidating. The scene is changing and I don’t have time to capture this moment.
The Solution: Pocket Sketching is the answer that I have developed and taught to many people all over the world. The materials all fit into a “fanny pack” that you can have with you on walks, dinners and just out having fun. Many of my students might be a little intimidated by starting with a large canvass, so this 4″ X 6″ formatwill enable you to capture your ideas without investing in a lot of materials. You will learn this fun and inspirational way to save your memories, creating a wonderful sketch in 25 minutes or less.

Title: “Expressive Drawing” Workshop with Dawn Emerson
Location: Two Rivers Gallery, 226 McLeod Street, Big Timber, MT
Description: This unique class will focus on the elements of design–line, shape, value, texture, edges, color and space–to create powerful compositions and expressive drawings. Guided fun and creative exercises will help students isolate each of the elements. Our subjects will be clothed models, animals, and landscape. We’ll create surfaces to draw on, and literally “paint” with charcoal and pencil, pastels if you like, as both a wet and dry medium. Whatever your experience or preferred medium you’ll enjoy this class!
