I was born and grew up in Coldwater, Michigan with the exception of spending 2 high school years in England, south of London. I graduated from Michigan State University and moved to Montana in 1998 to explore the wide-open spaces. Moving to Montana gave me a fresh outlook. I was fascinated by the incredible beauty in the small moments of everyday life and began capturing these moments in my photography. Originally I wanted to create a book for my family and friends at home, so they could see what I was experiencing. The project is still expanding!
In 2001 I started photographing weddings with the same vision … to capture the small beautiful moments that make each wedding unique, moments that the bride and groom will never want to forget. When shooting I blend in as one of the guests allowing me to capture the essence of the day as a participant. This philosophy carries over into my fine art and editorial images as well. This gives my images a sense of intimacy and familiarity. I now travel throughout the country to photograph weddings and capture the flavor and personality of the locations I visit. I am currently working on a travel and children’s portfolio and am pursuing editorial magazine assignments. My work has been published in Modem Bride, Montana Living, Distinctly Montana, The Tributary, Intermezzo, California Wine and Food, The Missoulian and Montana Bride as well as a national ad campaign for Eddie Bauer.
I also work on the family ranch and I am a mother to two beautiful girls who are the 6th generation on the Cayuse Livestock Company Melville Ranch.
