Born in Annapolis, Maryland to a Navy family, Mary Collier traveled the U.S. and Asia throughout her younger years. She was able to experience many different cultures and developed a yen for adventure and travel. It wasn’t until she arrived in Montana in 1996 that Mary knew she had finally found “home”.Mary began her education as an art major but put her artistic endeavors on hold to raise a family and pursue a career in software. Pending a successful career as CEO of a software startup company, Mary sold her business in 1998 and set up a glass studio at her ranch in Montana. Her glass designs reflect her love of the Rocky Mountains and its western heritage. Mary discovered the art of “painting with light” in 1997 when she took her first class in leaded and copper foil flat glass construction. She was led towards design of large architectural elements as a medium to express her passion for her western surroundings and Montana. Through the use of color and light, her art not only brings her vision to life but enlightens the soul of the VIewer.

Mary holds a B.G.S. in International Business and Information Systems from American University in Washington, D.C. She studied design at the Art Institute of Atlanta. She also studied traditional glass painting under Richard Millard, renowned glass painter and warm glass work with Dan Fenton. Mary is a member of the Stained Glass Artists’ Association and maintains a design studio in the small ranching town of Big Timber, Montana.
