Jeff Schaezle grew up in Colorado where the Rocky Mountains were a great inspiration for him. And from an early age he was drawn to art of all forms. For many years he worked in jobs that took him all over the shining Mountains. It was during that time in Jeff’s life that he dreamed of the art to be created. When he settled down in Montana, in the mid 1980s, he decided it was time to fulfill those dreams and to create art that evokes the viewer to be a part of that experience. Jeff has been mainly self taught, he takes professional workshops and immerses himself in art to continually expand his knowledge. He is also influenced by his mentors and fellow artists. And a blend of both classical European art, and native influences. Jeffs love of stone and his ability to capture his subject while leaving the beauty of the stone to speak for it self is well known. His style is truly “Jeff.” He has a unique ability to see what is inside each stone and is waiting to be released. Working in the stone medium has taught him patience, ‘there is no going back once the hammer has struck’. The sculpture he creates whether it is stone or bronze allows him to suggest his love of the subject. He brings forth a movement, a gesture, a mood from an observation or an encounter Through his oil painting he is able to express yet another facet of nature and our world. He captures the magnificent western landscapes as well as wildlife and the human figure Jeff has received many awards and has been featured in galleries in Montana, Wyoming, California and Maryland. For the last 13 years he has shown at the annual Gallery of Artists show in Tucson, AZ, and the Invitational Sculpture Show in Loveland, CO. His work has also been shown in the biannual regional show at the Bradford Brinton Museum in Bighorn, WY, the miniature’s show at the Charlie Russell Museum in Great Falls, MT and the silent auction fund raiser at the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, MT. Currently he lives in Billings, MT; creating his artwork, and enjoying life in this place we call “Big Sky Country” Thanks for viewing Jeff’s work. You can see more at www.jeffschaezle.com |
